All Alapatt Diamonds Jewellery come with an Alapatt Guarantee along with the certificates from International Gemological Institute (IGI) and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as applicable.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the National Standards Body of India is a statutory organization under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986. The BIS hallmark is a hallmarking system for gold as well as silver jewellery sold in India certifying the purity of the metal. It certifies that the piece of jewellery conforms to a set of standards laid by the Bureau of Indian Standards, the national standards organization of India.

International Gemological Institute (IGI) is a diamond, colored stone and jewellery certification organization.  Established in 1975, IGI is the largest independent gemological laboratory worldwide. IGI provides independent grading reports (certificates) for diamonds and colored stones.

The four Cs are: Carat, Cut, Clarity and Color.

  • Carat: is equivalent to 0.2 grams. It is the standardized unit of weight for diamonds and is not necessarily a reflection of size
  • Cut: refers to both the diamond’s shape and to the number of facets, their size and their relative proportions on the surface of a diamond.
  • Clarity: is a measure of the natural inclusions, often so small that they are completely invisible to the naked eye.
  • Color: is the most personal of choices. It is measured from D – Z.

Karats or Carats is the term used to measure the gold content or purity. It’s often shortened to k, kt, or ct. Higher the number, higher the purity of the gold.

  • 24k is the purest form of gold. It means 99.9 percent of the metal is gold. However, 24k gold is too soft to be used for jewellery so another metal is usually added to gold to give it strength.
  • 22k means 91.67 percent is pure gold and the rest 8.33 percent comprises of other metals like silver, zinc, nickel and other alloys. This makes the gold harder and making the jewellery durable.
  • 18k gold means 75 percent of it is pure gold and rest is other metals like copper or silver etc. This gold is ideal for studded and diamond jewellery
  • 24k gold has a natural warm color of pure gold. Other colors of gold are usually achieved by changing the composition of the alloy in the making of the jewellery. Adding more copper in the alloy composition of the gold makes pink gold. Likewise Green gold is more of zinc and silver and white gold is more of nickel. A surface color can also be given to gold ornaments by electro-plating.

We will be happy to engrave any of the jewellery items where it’s reasonably possible to do so. Jewellery items that can be customized will be customized (within reason) as per customer’s preference. Note: For customization, there may be additional charges applicable that will need to be paid at the time of the order. And customized jewellery cannot be returned or cancelled.

Alapatt uses only trusted manufacturers for its gold and diamond jewellery. We assure you that we do not support unethical mining of diamonds and all our diamonds are natural and ethically sourced.
